Like it or not, cashless is coming.
The UK is in the top ten countries which are most prepared for this dramatic shift from physical to cyber, from cold hard cash to cold impersonal credits. And this is because those in charge of things are intent on a cashless society becoming a reality.
A recent article in The Telegraph (30th March 2022) informs us that people are being ‘forced’ to go cashless, irrespective of if they want to or not. Free-to-use ATMs are rapidly disappearing, whilst more and more people are being coerced into making electronic payments instead of using banknotes.
‘The UK is in the top ten countries which are most prepared for this dramatic shift from physical to cyber, from cold hard cash to cold impersonal credits’
The truth is that most people in the UK don’t want to go cashless. Many may like the convenience of electronic payment methods but the thought of cash no longer being an option at all does not appeal –
‘Around 10 million people, or one in five adults, would struggle to manage in a society without cash, a report from the Royal Society of Arts commissioned by cash machine network Link found.
The older generation in particular is being left behind. One in three people dependent on cash are above 65. Some four million of those who would struggle most without cash are over 65 years old.’
The article also states –
‘The survey found the wider public also worried that a cashless society would reduce their control over finances and debt, lead to higher exposure to fraud, lower their privacy, and increase isolation.’
If our government is dead set on doing away with physical cash, then the whole business of Covid has really helped things along nicely. An article on the n26.com website tells us –
‘A study by UK Finance reported a 35% decrease in cash payments in 2020, largely due to the pandemic. The paper also revealed that 79% of adults use online banking and 54% use mobile banking apps proving that the UK is well on its way to becoming cashless.’
It is also worth noting that the UK is fairly high on the ‘countries almost ready to go cashless’ list. Many websites you look at will put us somewhere in the top ten and few place us in the top five. Quite a scary thought if it is something you do not like the idea of. After all, what say will ordinary people have in whether it actually happens or not?
And there you go. Already some pretty good reasons for concern about the advent of a cashless society. But what if there is another side to it all as well? A spiritual aspect perhaps……. Sure I watched ‘The Omen’ in my youth as well and yes, I too have read those conspiratorial articles about us all having the mark of the beast emblazoned on our foreheads or hands. But even so…..

Bearing in mind that The Bible (and the Book of Revelation in particular) was written thousands of years ago, it does seem a little uncanny how we are now watching it all come to pass. That is quite a coincidence. Did God really show the dangers of the future and the last days to John the Revelator all that time ago? If we are living in the end times then one thing is for certain – we all have far more to worry about than merely having no proper money anymore……

I noticed in a local pub that the Fruit machine also had a cashless option, where you use an app rather than play with hard cash 🙁
Gives me the willies………

I was at a car park last week with a pocket full of change to feed the meter, it only wanted plastic.
I was at a garage using an airline recently and it only wanted plastic or phone.
All a bit scary and happening faster now……
The number of the beast is a very cool song by Iron Maiden. And you can’t beat some heavy metal to get the blood pumping.
It very much is a very cool song by Maiden. I simply cannot argue with that statement 🙂
Jolly good seeing them play it live as well I can tell you….. 😉
