Lots of people were none too keen on these clunking great additions to our coinage when they first appeared. However, time is a great healer and the healing process is far quicker once low mintage releases such as ‘Commonwealth’ or ‘Claim of Rights’ are added to the equation!
Over time (lots of!!!) I shall be compiling mintage figures for all denominations of coins. I shall then be posting them on here so everyone else has them too (I’m good like that). And what better place to start than with the beloved 50p? After all, it is the most commonly collected coin of all. …
The official figures for that coin no-one was too sure about back in 1982. But, time has moved on and the twenty pence piece is now wholly socially acceptable. All thanks to the open-mindedness of the Great British public!!!!
Mintages for one of the most commonly used coins of all – our beloved ten pence! Just think, without these in existence we would simply not be able to pay extortionate amounts at ‘Pay and Display’ car parks. Travesty!!!
The UK’s fiddliest coin of all to deal with. And….. if you ever drop one and you don’t have reasonably long fingernails, you can basically forget it and just walk on :/
