Over the last ten years or so, things have changed in a really big way. And the way they have changed the most is with the dramatic reduction in people using cold hard cash. That’s right. We are rapidly heading for a totally cashless society, the kind of thing we have been warned about in hundreds of Science Fiction stories – and even the Holy Bible. Yet into it we plow headlong…..
So, what are the majority of people doing about this? Well……. sadly they appear to be welcoming it all with open arms.
The latest iPhone comes out – people camp outside stores to ensure they get one.
The trendiest payment app is created – people help to break all download records to ensure they have it to hand.
And… if the mark of the beast is really introduced through underhand methods (after months of subliminal indoctrination) – will people trip over themselves to get that RFID chip placed in their right hand…..? Well, it does make one wonder…… lol.
Yes, so welcome all – we are living in the twenty-first century. And isn’t it just great?
In the not-so-distant years we are destined to become one of the next countries to embrace the whole cashless society ethic. We are also down to see far more methods of control being implemented in our lives. Yet most people seem to remain completely ignorant of this fact. Here is a quick example of the oxymoronic logic being instilled in us all on a subconscious level –
‘In the interests of security, what is in your parcel please?’
Now, some of us are old enough to remember being able to send a package without being confronted with this absurd question. ‘But they are only trying to keep us safe!’ I hear you say. Are they really? Let us take a moment to think about this…..
If I were sending a nail bomb to someone (which I am not in the habit of doing I would like to add), how exactly would I react when confronted with this question? Would I simply fess up and land myself a ten-stretch? Or would I lie and say it was a ‘My Little Pony’ figurine?
The truth is that whatever this is about, it is not something to ‘keep us all safe’. Perhaps it is just another method of conditioning? And those payment meters in our car parks where you need to type in your registration number…. are they really there to ensure we are not kind enough to share our ALREADY PAID FOR time with another driver? Or is it more to do with monitoring where we go and what we do? Paranoia sits so easy in this day and age. 😉
George Orwell tried to warn us about it all over half a century ago. When he created his vision of the future it sounded just plain nuts – but now it suddenly sounds very plausible. The long and the short of it is, Orwell was a seer; as were many Sci-Fi writers from years gone by. Want to know what is around the corner? Go ask Aldous Huxley. Lol.
I was going to go on and make a few other observations, like where this all leaves those of us who collect coins…. but I would hasten a guess you can work that part out for yourself. I would also actively encorourage you to stay aware of what is happening in these times – and not to be a ‘slowly boiled frog’. Which is precisely what many are in danger of becoming….
Wikipedia – The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. The story is often used as a metaphor for the inability or unwillingness of people to react to or be aware of sinister threats that arise gradually rather than suddenly.
