Dumbstruck by Coin Received

With most items we purchase, we expect them to be in good condition.  And the chances are that we will be jolly annoyed if they are not as they are supposed to be.  If our items arrive damaged or misshapen in some way, then the chances are we will send them back for a refund or replacement pretty damn sharpish.  This is perfectly understandable and applies to virtually any type of product.  But with coins it is slightly different.

If we buy a coin which turns out to be a mis-strike then we would be a fool to complain about it.  And an even bigger fool if we considered sending it back.  Error coins can be worth a lot of money and some people make it their business to collect them.  It is quite a specialised area in numismatics.

There are lots of different types of errors to look for and it is well worth looking into; die bleeds, rotation errors/inverted effigies, mis-strikes…….  All very interesting and with the potential of being very lucrative too if you are lucky enough to come across any.

So, if you order yourself a coin and you end up with one that has a double-headed queen don’t go sending it back.  Simply leave your contact details in the comments box at the bottom of this post and I shall be in touch as soon as I can…….  😉
