The wind shrieked. Ice cold. Tiny, fine raindrops lashed Eli’s face and stung his eyes. And still he held on to the wet, slippery ledge.

Slowly across the burnt and oranged tundra. Eli strode wearily but with purpose. Once trees had grown here. People had laughed. Dogs had barked.
Down, down, down. Went the world. Germs spread, wars spread, greed spread, panic spread. And then all was lost, Gone.
The cellar was dark and I could hear noises somewhere off to my left. Snuffling sounds and an occasional tearing noise.
The Isle of Man. 2011. 8.53am I had been wandering the streets for hours. There was something in the air. I could feel it. Of course, I could be wrong; I have known to be in the past. But my nose is pretty good when it comes to this sort of thing.
