Okay, so after the Queen’s sad passing, the country (if not the world) is still in shock. She was a major figure, had been for decades and was adored by millions.
But just how much shock is everyone in right now? And has that affected the mental processing of some??? I ask this for a reason because I just saw an article on BBC News that left me asking myself, ‘is it just me?’.
The story they posted is presented in such a way that the ‘breaking news’ part of it is….. that Charles will be appearing on our new coinage. I kid you not! Check out this shocker of a headline –
‘King Charles III: Coins to enter circulation, Royal Mint confirms’
Er yeah…..
Okay, so I am clearly being thick here. There were obviously a lot of people out there who thought one of two things – and this was why the Beeb saw it necessary to set the record straight – even if this was a painful truth for many. The two commonly held misconceptions were (I am guessing) –
1 – that new coins would bear the effigy of some other random famous person – Clint Eastwood, Steve Davis or Vanilla Ice maybe
2 – that for the first time in human history, even though the monarch had died, she would continue to feature on coins while the new Head of State simply took a backseat quietly
Seriously BBC, get a grip! This so-called ‘story’ has NO actual information in it whatsoever. Things people do want to know, such as when this will happen or what the new portrait will look like are simply undisclosed. The long and the short of it that this really isn’t a newsworthy item at all. In fact, it is downright bloody stoopid.
For goodness sake.
