On Saturday 2nd April, John White, co-founder of TGBCH passed away at the Weldmar hospice in Weymouth. He was a beautiful person and will be very sadly missed.
Anyone who has been touched by death will understand exactly what John’s family and friends are going through right now. They will also have some idea of how Ian Lambert is feeling. Not only was John his business partner, he also happened to be his best friend.
Sitting beside someone when they are dying is a rather humbling experience to say the least. So many of us have some romantic notion about slipping away peacefully; surrounded by loving and caring faces. That is most people’s ideal when it comes to end of life matters. Yet, a lot of the time, this will only be made possible because of the efforts of others. And in a hospice these ‘others’ are people who are completely unrelated to the person in question – yet they are still totally dedicated to their job.

Very few people can do this type of work full time. I know damn well I couldn’t. I stepped into this role only once and I still bear the scars. It takes a certain kind of individual to do this day and night, week after week. Someone who is able to put their own life on hold and give their whole to another human being who requires care, respect and understanding in their final days on this Earth. I have a huge amount of respect for anyone who works in a hospice. Not only must it be upsetting, it will also remind you of your own mortality every day you go to work.

Ian is raising money for the Weldmar where John died. He is doing this by selling his ‘John and Kaspa’ TGBCH coins and is giving away 100% of the retail cost of these. It costs a whopping £550 a night for someone to receive the care they need here. They only receive a fraction of the funding they need from the NHS so it is up to them to find the rest.

Ian has increased the price of these coins and they are now £10 each. This is to raise money faster as they sell. He will also be having more coins made in memory of John once they are sold. Because John White will never be forgotten and the fight against ****ing cancer will never be over until a cure is found.
