Welcome back to my exciting ‘Rarest Coins Ever’ mini-series where I tell you about…. well…. er….. the rarest coins ever from a few different places :/ And that is because, when it comes to coins from overseas, things can soon get very jolly expensive indeed.
In this weeks thrilling installment I shall be telling you about some of the shiniest gems of all from Guernsey….
‘The Coronation Jubilee’ Set of Fifty Pences
This is a very nice set of coins and it is also very sought after. I shall put it this way; it is usually cheaper to buy the silver versions rather than the cupro-nickel ones (when it works out like this you just know you are in trouble).
The silver editions will normally cost you around £40 each minimum (if you are lucky and if the wind happens to be blowing in the right direction).
‘The Guernsey Cross’
Depending on how much of a stickler you are will very much depend on how much your Guernsey coin collection is going to cost you….. For some people, having one ‘Guernsey Cross’ will be sufficient. This is the WISE option here! Because if you opt to have one for each year then you will soon discover that certain dates are a lot of money.
I will leave you to the joy of finding out which years are lower mintage and how much these will set you back.
‘Concorde’ Set of Fifty Pences
While these three coins don’t have the most eye-catching of designs in the world (like at all), there has always been a buzz about them. I am not quite sure why this is and I begrudged having to buy them at all as I personally think they are a bit crap.
However, because there has always been a buzz about them, this is reflected in their price. You will currently have to part ways with between £60-£70 to obtain a set of three. Ouchies.
