So, here we are again with another ‘Winnie the Pooh’ fifty pence release. This time around it is ‘Kanga and Roo’. There isn’t a great deal to say in all fairness as these coins are all much the same and the same things also apply to each…. Basically, they have been designed to look good in colour. Whether or not they look okay in standard cupro-nickel is essentially down to chance – chance based on the strength and compatibility of each design. For example, ‘Tigger’ and ‘Winnie’ were still half-decent in an uncoloured format whilst ‘Eeyore’ really wasn’t.
As it turns out, ‘Kanga and Roo’ actually looks okayish. The picture is plain enough to carry it off and the large blank areas in it really help with this. Apparently, there is only one coin to go now to complete this series but we will see. I mean it is all very reminiscent of the ‘Beatrix Potter’ coins that began in 2016…. which are still being squeezed out now.
