REVIEW – ‘Tigger’ Fifty Pence 2021

Luckily for anyone who likes ‘Winnie the Pooh’, The Royal Mint decided to use the proper illustrations rather than some horrid modern Disney reworking of it all.  As a consequence, the coins in this series have a lovely old-fashioned feel about them, further empathised by their gorgeous packaging.  Perhaps RM have finally learned (after making such a hash of ‘Paddington’ by using the WRONG!!!!! type of bear to begin with) that there is a lot to be said for sticking to original artistry.  After all, it would have been another Paddington-esque travesty to have based these designs on anything other than the timeless illustrations of E.H. Shepard.

The Royal Mint also stuck to the real-deal art when it came to ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

Could this signify a change of tactics over at RM Central?  I do hope so.

Wow, this is really exciting. I need to be ordering myself at least 2 normal RM packaged 50p’s and a silver. Love the design and can’t wait to order them.
