(‘This is Not a Fish’)

FISH!

After recently composing a newsletter for ‘TGBCH Prize Competitions’ (yes, I am the very same partially unhinged individual who is responsible for these as well) I rediscovered the sheer unadulterated JOY of FISH!!!!

Don’t get me wrong, I do not chow down on a strict diet composed entirely of omega 3 every day.  No, whilst I do enjoy a good chomp on a good variety of FISH, this is not what I am talking about.

I like FISH and get very oh ever so excited about them purely because of their surrealist qualities.  They are just so ‘out there’ aren’t they?  You don’t believe me?  Well, the next time you have a meeting with your bank manager, try saying, ‘Kipper!’ in the middle of the conversation and just see what happens!  Or when you go for a job interview, why not slap a mackerel on the table right there beside that curriculum vitae of yours?  I guarantee you will get a reaction!!!  People are shocked by FISH simply because they are strange, wet, smelly and don’t fit in so well with things here on this mainly dry firmament on which we exist.  They are odd.

Anyhow, bearing in mind how excited I get about FISH, just imagine for a moment how animated I became when Pobjoy released their ‘Sea Creatures’ coins!

Okay, so these coins are not from one of the more famous territories such as Gibraltar or IOM, but this does not detract from their beauty.  They are some of the most colourful releases I have seen to date and they look really nice beside other standard cupro-nickel designs in my collection.

But…. far more importantly than that….. I now have FISH in my coin drawers!!!!  Just how kool is that?  This could only ever be bettered if I were to find René Magritte spoons to go in my cutlery drawer or a Salvador Dali loo roll holder!

FISH!!!  Oh, how I love their way-out-ness.

  Sigh!
